  2. Starter • Have a go at the starter task: • Unit 1  9. Applications  2. Email  L1 and 2  starter know your email.doc

Objectives • WALT (We Are Learning To): • Understand the purpose of e-mail. • Become familiar with the school e-mail environment. • Know why being professional in e-mail is important. • WILF (What I’m Looking For): • You can use the school email system. • You can use e-mail address book and email signatures. • You can attach files appropriately.

  4. Quick Task (10mins) • I want you to research e-mail and some key terms. • Pick your levelled task and have a go. • Unit 1  9. Applications  2. Email  L1 and 2  Email Research task (Foundation, Medium or Low) • Help is included in each task.

  5. School E-Mail (if you don’t know already) • What do we mean by e-mail etiquette? • School e-mail address: userID@conyers.stockton.sch.uk • E.g. 07JSmith@conyers.stockton.sch.uk • Checking your email: Start  Internet  E-Mail • Username: this is the same as your logon. • Default password: conyers

  6. Quick Questions • In pairs discuss the answers to each of these questions. We will review in 60 seconds: • What is E-Mail? • What is an e-mail signature? • What is meant by ‘CC’ and ‘BCC?’ • What is a file attachment? • What is an address book used for? • What are the risks/dangers of email? • What can you do protect yourself against such risks?

Quick Tasks (2minutes per task) • Task 1: Write down your email address in your planner! • Task 2: Login to your school email, change your password. • Task 3: Write an informal e-mail to someone in the room. • Task 4: Reply to someone who has emailed you. • Task 5: Forward an e-mail from one person to another.

  10. Quick Tasks (2minutes per task) • Task 1: Add 4 people to your address book. • Task 2: Using your address book, send all four people an email (at the same time). CC the email to someone else. BCC to your teacher. • Task 3: Email an attachment to someone (appropriate!) • Task 4: Delete all unwanted e-mails. Empty your trash (see if you can figure out how to do this).
