Quenchmaster Class A Foam System Operation • The Quenchmaster foam system is designed to proportion Class A foam only • It must be operated between 600 – 1000 kPa • Flow rates range between 200 – 400 Lpm • Proportioning is between 0.1% and 1%. • The proportioner has six setting positions Off, 0.01%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, 1.00%. • The system is also fitted with an automatic water flush mode.

Quenchmaster System Controls • Class A Foam Valve • Controls water flow from pump discharge to either • Pump by-pass • Foam inductor • Foam Proportioning Valve • Turns the system on and off • Automatically activates the flush mode when proportioning is complete and the system is turned to the Off position • Controls the proportioning rate of Class A foam concentrate

To Supply Foam • Ensure adequate supply of foam concentrate. • Start pump and set pressure between 600 & 1000 kPa (Optimum 700 kPa ) DO NOT EXCEED 1000 kPa. • Open branch to provide water flow through the pump and foam proportioner • Ensure tank fill valve is closed ( Do not open during foam use ) • The Red indicator will be on the drive water solenoid will be On for the entire duration of foam production • Foam solution will circulate around the pump for foam delivery

  6. Producing Class A Foam When Boosting As the “Quenchmaster” proportioning system is a round the pump proportioner, any back pressure on the inductor will prevent foam production. In the event that class A foam is required to be produced when the appliance is boosting, the following procedure must be followed. Once water is being delivered to the branch, the pump inlet will need to be gated so as the pump inlet gauge reads as close to 0 as possible. ( This will ensure that there is no back pressure on the inductor ) Adjustments to the pump throttle will have to be made to maintain required pressure.

  7. To Shut Down Foam ► With foam discharging from the branch, set the “Quenchmaster” foam percentage valve to the Off position. ► Red indicator light will turn off and the orange flush indicator light will illuminate. ► Flush the remaining water foam solution through the hoses until clear water is showing at the branch. ► Close branch and delivery lines. ► Move the Class A foam valve to the foam “off” position. ► Flush appliance reticulation system and all outlets ( including front sprays ) until clear water is observed. ► Once appliance reticulation system has been flushed, operate the crew protection spray system in order to flush any foam solution out.

SystemOperating Information Every time the pump ignition is turned on the drive water solenoid will open allowing water to flush and lubricate the system Ensure the foam proportioning valve is turned Off If foam enteres the appliance water tank during firefighting / training operations, flush the water tank until free of foam.

  11. Foam Concentrate Drum Rack Foam concentrate is stored in 20 litre carboys located in a slide out carrier under the appliance. A pick-up tube delivers foam concentrate from the carboys to the inductor.

  12. Tank Fill Valve During foam production/use the tank fill valve must remain closed If this valve is opened during foam use contamination of the water tank will occur

  13. Pump Cooling When the class A foam valve is in the “foam off” position, water is circulated back to the water tank therefore providing pump cooling capacity. When the class A foam valve is in the “on position”, the pump by-pass line is closed and the water is diverted to the foam inductor. In this position there is no pump cooling capacity
