A spectrum of partner integration • Colocation • Collaboration • Integration
Colocation In many schools, partners are merely collocated within the school They develop individual relationships with the school community, but have little sense of their interconnection within the school ecosystem. This can lead to redundancy of services and an efficient use of resources With co-location, “more” doesn’t necessarily translate to “more powerful”
Collaboration When partners collaborate, they begin to work together to achieve a targeted goal For example, when multiple partners assist a school with planning and hosting a freshman orientation, this is an example of collaboration Collaboration is usually very project focused and has a specific, finite goal
Integration When partners are integrated, they adopt a common mission and understand their complementary roles in fulfilling the mission Structures and strategies are developed to sustain continuous collaboration and seamless communication and decision making Integration is more open-ended than collaboration and impacts overall culture and climate more than collaboration
School Integration within and across tiers Specialized Intervention (Tier 3) Targeted Intervention (Tier 2) General Instruction & Supports (Tier 1) Attendance Behavior Course: English Course: Math
