  5. Inclusion and Influence • Inclusion of each local community’s diverse philanthropies and professionals is increasing AFP’s global influence, mission impact and membership. Objectives and Initiatives: • Articulate a vision and core principles of diversity and inclusion similar to AFP’s foundational ethics statement. • Engage diverse nonprofit leaders, including donors/funders and key influencers, to design and execute a coordinated diversity and inclusion initiative with programs and tools chapters can use. • Define the business case for this diversity and inclusion vision and set and monitor metrics for achieving it. • Identify funding partners to support convening and serving diverse community interests. • Attract and retain the next generation of diversity professionals in fundraising careers.

DEFINITION AFP Diversity and Inclusion Philosophy Statement AFP believes that diversity and inclusion create a strong, vital and unified force for the effective pursuit of an organization’s mission and achieving philanthropic success. AFP Definition Diversity and Inclusion in Fundraising – seeks to achieve a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, and cultures to ensure that the best possible thinking, ideas, opportunities and solutions are considered; intentionally creates a respectful and welcoming environment that is open to all; and appreciates the unique contributions of every member of the community.

QUESTIONS POSED • How many chapters have some award to recognize diversity, and how did you come up with that recognition? • How do we include people with disabilities in philanthropy, and does the new scholarship effort to attend the International Fundraising Conference include people with disability?

  16. QUESTIONS POSED • Would AFP explore having a choice of badges/logos for chapters to display in addition to the FOD badge? • What metrics are in place to monitor the progress of the five year Diversity and Inclusion plan from the Summit?
