Classroom Rules Continued • If you are tardy, bring a pass. • Respect is very important. • Raise your hand if you have something to say. • Only one person will talk at a time. • Ask for permission to leave your seat.

Grading Policy:***You are responsible to keep track of your own grades*** Labs: 30% Homework 10 % Tests/quiz: 40% Group Work 15% Warm ups 5% Projects: We will be doing several projects which will include use of the laptops.
Lab grade: Each lab grade will be a combination grade of your technique in the classroom (chem lab) and a written portion with the exception of formal lab reports. Each formal lab will be entirely based on the lab report itself. They must be typed. Proper conduct is mandatory and will be dealt with case by case. Extra credit is given for turning lab reports in early. The last day to turn a lab in for full credit is the next lab day. If you do not come to lab dressed properly, you will be required to go to the library for your own safety. You will be required to write a research article on the topic we are covering in class which will be a minimum of two pages and three sources of information. It must be typed. This project is due the next day, no exceptions.
Examinations: Quiz: May or may not be announced. Can be open notebook or on the laptop.Tests: All tests will be announced. Format will vary based on the material being covered. Each class will receive at least two different forms of each test. Make up of missed work: See student handbook.
Tardiness/class cuts: See student handbook. If I find out that you cut class and did not have an excused absence you will receive a zero for any work associated with that day even if you have already taken an examination. • Homework: • You will be given two types of assignments, worksheets and problems. I will collect some of the assignments and grade them; others will just be checked. You will loose 25% of the credit per day for late work. Once I have gone over it, no credit will be given. I will NOT remind you to turn in missed work.
Bell Ringers • Each bell ringer will be set up in the following way • They are to be the only content on that page (no notes or homework). • They can not be photocopied or typed. • Worksheets are to be numbered & stapled at the end. • B. Missed Test/Quiz:I will be following the policy stated in your handbook.Notebook: You are required to take notes and keep a notebook/folder. Your formula sheet will be in here.
Article Review: • This will count under project/lab grade worth 20 points each for a total of 100 points • Due for full credit on day 8, 16, 24, 32, and 40 • Collected at the start of each class day above; you will lose 3 points for every day you are late. • Extra credit(5pts) will be given if you turn in early • They can be hand written or e-mailed.
Labs Reports: All lab reports are due at the start of the next class. You will loose 10 % for every day you are late. Be sure to follow all instructions as they are given in class. Taking lab is a privilege. Misconduct will result in removal from lab & an alternate assignment (research paper). Safety is always important and appropriate laboratory conduct is expected at all times.
Homework: Homework will be checked at the START of class. I will grade some of the assignments. There will be NO credit given for work turned in late. A homework sheet containing all assignments will be posted on the cabinet door. It is your responsibility to check this for missed work if you are absent. If you are absent you are to have your last assignment ready to be checked upon your return. Refer to the student handbook policy for missed work. I WILL NOT remind you or ask you for this work. You will receive zeros. Tardiness/Class cut: Tardiness will affect your grade. If you come to class late without a pass I will NOT accept your homework. If you are late for a test/quiz that is all the less time you have to take it. A class cut will result in a ZERO for all work covered!

All sources must be what a scientist would consider reputable.When stating the source you must be very precise. Newspaper: Name of the newspaper & date Magazine: Name of the magazine, date/volume, & page Internet: A web address I can type in and find that article. I suggest you include as much information as possible. You can use newspapers, magazines, journals, etc.

Please remember that the school has an ample supply of newspapers in the media center. The librarian will be happy to assist you at any time you may need help. • Remember: • You loose 3 points for every day you are late. You are given extra credit for turning articles in early.
