Introduction Liberte! Egalite! Fraternite! This was the cry for freedom and justice from thousands of French citizens during the years of the French Revolution. The people were demanding what they believed to be three essential parts of life: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity (Brotherhood). While the Bourgeoisie enjoyed fine things and excess, the people were suffering in unimaginable ways. The French monarchy was about to find out that its biggest threat was an angry mob of starving people.
Task • Read the links and watch the videos on the resource page to gain an understanding the causes of the French Revolution • Using Microsoft Publisher create your own News Paper or Magazine set during the time of the Revolution. It is to be a special edition that looks back over the course of the War • Your special edition should be divided into the following segments: • Causes of the Revolution • Key People During the War • Major Events of the War • Role of the Church during the Revolution • Legacy of the Revolution • Editorial Page (more info on resource page)

Conclusion The French Revolution was a turbulent time in the history of France. Because of the Revolution there was a change in power. For a short period of time France was a democracy.
