The Internet of Things (IoT) • It’s estimated that there are 9 billion devices connected to the internet today, and there will be between 20 - 50 billion devices will be connected by 2020 (Cisco, Ericsson) • 4 billion terabytesof data will be generated this year alone (SAP, Harris Interactive) • The shipment of PCs, tablets and mobile phones should total 2.4 billion units this year (Gartner) • The business impact of connected devices could be worth $4.5 Trillion(GSMA)

Automation and Control - South Bend, Indiana, USA • A town with a population of 130,000 with 600 miles of sewers handling 48 million gallons of waste water. • Being regularly fined $600k per year by the EPA for over 30 ‘Combined Sewer Overflows’ • Installed 117 sensors from emnet.net, receiving flow data every5 minutes. • Implemented predictive flow analytics from IBM and Notre Dame University. • Resulted in only 1 or 2 CSOs per year now. • Avoided over $100M in infrastructure investments by utilising existing sewer system more effectively.
