Once the work of the SMEs is completed, they • Draw an initial schedule assuming unlimited resources. • Second stage: • Project team reviews the initial schedule. • If the schedule is not satisfactory, project team may add more resources to reduce the duration of the project.
SCHEDULING CONT. • Third stage: • If the team is still not satisfied with the outcome of the second stage schedule, they may consider changing the construction methods and/or crashing some critical activities that require highly skilled/highly paid labor. • Fourth stage: • Prepared by the site engineer as “ One-week look ahead” and reviewed by project team
CONTROLLING • The controlling follows two processes: • Updating – obtaining the progress data from the site and update the plan. • Monitoring – applying the “Earned Value” concept.
CONCLUSION • Latifia is considered one of the largest construction companies. • Its success is attributed to a robust project management system. • Currently, SR500M is the minimum acceptable value to undertake a project. • Planning, scheduling and controlling practices conform to the methodology covered in CEM 510.
