Two Dimensional Market Share *Demo Data
Hospital Specific Market Share – One Time Period • Report consists of market share data for both discharges and patient days by hospital for one time period • Can report on a maximum of two levels *Demo Data
Hospital Specific Market Share - Trends • Report includes market share data by hospital for up to two levels and five time periods *Demo Data

Replication Report • Calculates the percentage of replicated records by hospital • Useful for analyzing reliability of Quarterly MIDB and MODB updates *Demo Data
Competitor Market Share Trends • Report functions like a Market Share Trends Report and allows you to get information on your competitors Report is for Independent Hospital *Demo Data
Demographic Reports • Four demographic reports • Population reports • Fields to report on include: age category, county, district council, and zip code • Household income reports • Data source for these reports is Claritas • 2011 population and 2016 population projections are available
Demographic Reports • New age categories beginning with 2007 population data • Ability to run population reports for the Pediatric population • Two age category field names in IDS: • Age category: Field name for new age categories as of 2007 • Age category (5 year): Field name for the old age categories
Outcome Measures • Seven different outcome measure reports • One time period reports • Trend reports • Hospital specific reports • Three pre-defined reports which are based on the old Michigan Hospital Report
Outcome Measures - Severity Adjusted Data • Data in the Outcome Measure Reports are severity adjusted • APR-DRGs applied to all discharges in MIDB in the Outcome Measure Reports • APR-DRG software is used to calculate the expected LOS and mortality • APR-DRG measures risk of mortality and severity of illness • Each patient is assigned an APR-DRG based on principal diagnosis and procedure • IDS reports are based on CMS MS-DRGs
Severity Adjusted Mortality by Service Line Note: The discharges on this report may not match other reports because replicated records and patients with a missing disposition code are excluded. Total Diff Mortality = Avg Difference * Hosp Discharges Avg Difference = Hosp Mort. Rate – Expected Mort Rate *Demo Data
Mortality Index = Hosp Mort. Rate/ Expected Mort. Rate Hospital Specific Severity Adjusted Report LOS Index = Hosp ALOS/Expected ALOS Note: The discharges on this report may not match other reports because replicated records and patients with a missing disposition code are excluded. LOS hospital disch. May be different than overall because outliers are removed in LOS. *Demo Data
Index = Percent Outpt / Total Percent Outpt IP and OP Comparison Report Report allows you to verify outpatient participation in your area and compare inpatient and outpatient data in one report. *Demo Data
Utilization Rates • Seven different utilization reports • Future Utilization • Physician Office Visits • ER Visits • Outpatient Visits • Physician Supply/Demand • Data sources for these reports include: • Claritas • National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) • National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS) • AMI physician database
Physician Supply/Need Reports • Physicians with multiple offices were assigned a factor based on the number of offices • Example: If Dr. Smith practiced at two different locations he would be assigned a factor of .5 at each location
Physician Supply/Need Reports • Report shows Physician Requirement for the given area • Physician Requirement is then used to calculate the Physician Need • Physician Requirement is based on use rates in the comparison geography • State of Michigan is the default comparison geography • Ability to compare your region to other regions
Physician Supply/Need Report by Geography Comparative Region is the state of Michigan *Demo Data
Physician Supply/Need Report by Specialty Region compared to Michigan *Demo Data
Example of Physician List • Physician names, factors, and specialties are listed in a separate report *Demo Data
Report Wizards • Report Wizards allow users to customize their own reports • Three Report Wizards in the IDS: • Demographic Data Wizard • Define custom geographic reports by zip code • Export Data Wizard • Export records from the IDS • Map Data Wizard • Import non-IDS data and create maps
Custom Reports • Saved reports are stored under Custom Reports • Can organize custom reports by going to Tools and selecting Organize Custom Reports Folder
