  13. Outcome Measures • Seven different outcome measure reports • One time period reports • Trend reports • Hospital specific reports • Three pre-defined reports which are based on the old Michigan Hospital Report

  14. Outcome Measures - Severity Adjusted Data • Data in the Outcome Measure Reports are severity adjusted • APR-DRGs applied to all discharges in MIDB in the Outcome Measure Reports • APR-DRG software is used to calculate the expected LOS and mortality • APR-DRG measures risk of mortality and severity of illness • Each patient is assigned an APR-DRG based on principal diagnosis and procedure • IDS reports are based on CMS MS-DRGs

  15. Severity Adjusted Mortality by Service Line Note: The discharges on this report may not match other reports because replicated records and patients with a missing disposition code are excluded. Total Diff Mortality = Avg Difference * Hosp Discharges Avg Difference = Hosp Mort. Rate – Expected Mort Rate *Demo Data

  16. Mortality Index = Hosp Mort. Rate/ Expected Mort. Rate Hospital Specific Severity Adjusted Report LOS Index = Hosp ALOS/Expected ALOS Note: The discharges on this report may not match other reports because replicated records and patients with a missing disposition code are excluded. LOS hospital disch. May be different than overall because outliers are removed in LOS. *Demo Data

  17. Index = Percent Outpt / Total Percent Outpt IP and OP Comparison Report Report allows you to verify outpatient participation in your area and compare inpatient and outpatient data in one report. *Demo Data

  20. Physician Supply/Need Reports • Report shows Physician Requirement for the given area • Physician Requirement is then used to calculate the Physician Need • Physician Requirement is based on use rates in the comparison geography • State of Michigan is the default comparison geography • Ability to compare your region to other regions

  21. Physician Supply/Need Report by Geography Comparative Region is the state of Michigan *Demo Data

  22. Physician Supply/Need Report by Specialty Region compared to Michigan *Demo Data
