  15. We will examine the Geography of Europe. Geography consists of: Physical Characteristics AND Human Characteristics (Economic, Social, Political)

  16. Physical Features • Characteristics that describe features natural to the land. • This includes: Climate, Landforms, Animals, Plants.

  17. Human (Cultural) Features • Characteristics that describe the people. • This includes Economic, Social and Political features

  18. Directions: 1. Make a T-chart in your notebooks titled, “Geographic Characteristics of Europe”. 2. While touring Europe, identify some of the Physical and Human geographic characteristics of Europe.

  20. Abundance of fresh Water… --Europe has many rivers and bordering bodies of water. This provides for a lot of fresh water, trade, recreation and energy for people on this continent. Fresh water is an important natural resource which helps people survive. Where does this go in your T-chart?

  24. The Ariege--in Southern France bordering on Andorra and Spain has great Pyrenees scenery.

  26. Greece – The Corinth Canal A canal is a man made body of water connecting two larger bodies of water.

  27. Oracle at Delphi-The Oracle was the place where Grecian were entertained with plays. Agios Nikolaos, in Crete.—displays the island nature of Greece. As well as its mountains and valleys.

  29. SPAIN-- See the peninsula? A coastal region of northeastern Spain and bull fighting which is an important social event in Spain

  31. Land of the Midnight Sun—The arctic region of Norway and Scandinavia, the sun never sets for 3 months.
