4. Phrasal Verb คืออะไร? Phrasal verb หรือ กริยาวลี คือ การใช้คำกริยามาประกอบกับ preposition หรือ particle แล้วทำให้เกิดความหมายใหม่ขึ้นมาซึ่งอาจจะไม่มีเค้าความหมายของคำกริยาเดิมเลย Example Verb +  prep./par. = New meaning Break + out = to happen Give + away    = reveal

5. หลักการใช้ Phrasal Verbs 1.เมื่อไม่มี direct object ต้องวาง adverb ไว้ติดกับ verb เช่น - please come in.   - Don't give up, whatever happens. 2. เมื่อมี object pronoun เช่น him, her, it, them, me, us, เป็น direct object ต้องวาง object เหล่านี้ไว้หน้า adverb เช่น   - I can't make it out. ()   - I can't make out it.()

6. หลักการใช้ Phrasal Verbs 3. เมื่อมี noun เช่น book , pen , houses , etc. เป็น direct object จะวาง noun ไว้หน้าหรือหลัง adverb ก็ได้ เช่น   - Turn on the light. () - Turnthe light on. () 4. ถ้า object เป็นคำยาว เช่นมี object clause ขยายต้องวางobject ไว้หลัง adverb เช่น   - He gave away every book that he possessed. ()   - He gaveevery book that he possessed away. ()

7. ประเภทของ Phrasal Verbs 1. Inseparable Verbs with no objectsคือ phrasal verb ที่ต้องติดกัน ไม่สามารถแยกจากกันได้ ไม่ต้องมีกรรม เช่น Set off = ออกเดินทาง         Speed up = เร่งความเร็ว Wake up = ตื่นนอน            Stand up = ยืนขึ้น Come in = เข้ามาถึง           Get on = ขึ้น (รถ) / เข้ากันได้ Carry on = ทำต่อไป           Find out = เรียนรู้ Grow up = เติบโต             Turn up = ปรากฏตัว

Inseparable Verbs with objects คือ phrasal verb ที่ต้องอยู่ติดกัน ไม่สามารถแยกจากกันได้ แต่ต้องมีกรรม เช่นLook after = เลี้ยงดู                        Look into = สอบถาม, ตรวจสอบRun into = ชน                              Come across = พบโดยบังเอิญTake after = เหมือน, เจริญรอยตาม     Deal with = ติดต่อ, เกี่ยวข้องGo off = ออกไป, จากไป, หยุดทำงาน   Cope with = จัดการ

9. ประเภทของ Phrasal Verbs 3. Separable verbsคือ ที่แยกจากกันได้ มักจะต้องการกรรมTurn on = เปิด (ไฟ)           Turn off = ปิด (ไฟ) Turn down = หรี่ (เสียง)     Switch off = ปิดLook up = มองหา             Take off = ถอด, ออกเดินทาง

10. ประเภทของ Phrasal Verbs 4. Three-Word Phrasal Verbsคือ phrasal verb ที่ไม่มีกรรมและบางครั้งมีการใช้บุพบทมากกว่า 1 ตัว เช่นGet on with = ทำต่อไป, ไม่หยุด              Cut down on = ลดปริมาณลงLook out for = เตรียมพร้อม                  Catch up with = ตามทันRun out of = หมด                              Get down to = เอาจริงเอาจังStand up for = ปกป้อง, เดือดร้อนแทน     Look down to = ดูถูกLook up to = ยอมรับนับถือ                   Put up with = อดทนLook out on = มองออกไป

11. ตัวอย่าง Phrasal Verbs • + down = ดูถูก • You must not look down on the poor. • + out = ระวัง • Look out for pickpockets. • + for = ค้นหา, มองหา • Would you help me look for my keys? • + over = ตรวจสอบ • I would like you to look over these documents. Look • + forward = รอคอย • We look forward to receive your email. • +after = ดูแล, เลี้ยงดู • I'll look after the children while you go shopping.

12. ตัวอย่าง Phrasal Verbs • + in = ส่งงาน • You should turn in your paper by next Saturday. • + out = กลายเป็น • I hope everything will turn out well in the end. Turn • + on/off =เปิด/ปิดไฟ • Please turn on the television. • +into = กลายเป็น • The rain began to turn into snow. • + up / down = หรี่/เร่งเสียง • Please turn up the air conditioner.

13. ตัวอย่าง Phrasal Verbs • +up = ค้างคืน • Let’s put up here tonight. • +on/off = สวมใส่ / ถอดออก • Please Put on your coat. +across = ทำให้สำเร็จ You must put across your promise. Put • + aside = เก็บรักษา • Bill put aside a hundred dollars for his trip. • + out = ดับไฟ • Be sure to put out the fire before you leave.
