2. AREAS OF FOCUS ALL GRANTS MUST ADDRESS AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING • Peace & conflict prevention / resolution • Disease prevention and treatment • Water and sanitation • Maternal and child health • Basic education and literacy • Economic and community development

4. Packaged Grants • Packaged Grants provide opportunity for us to work with the Foundations Strategic Partners. The are designed to be sustainable and to make a significant impact in the communities and in the areas of focus. • Currently there are 4 Packaged Grants

5. Packaged Grant 1 Project: Vocational Training Team Strategic Partner: Aga Khan University Area of Focus: Maternal & Child Health • East Africa • 3 grants available each year • 30 scholarships each year for nurses in Kenya, Uganda, & Tanzania. • Rotarians in these three countries select scholars, and provide support and mentoring

6. Packaged Grant 2 • Project: Scholarships • Strategic Partner: UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education. • Area of Focus: Water & Sanitation • Provision of 8 Scholarships at graduate level on water and sanitary issues at Delft , The Netherlands. • On completion, conduct a water related project.

7. Packaged Grant 3 • Project: Training for Entrepreneurs • Strategic Partner: Oikocredit • Focus: Economic & Community Development. • Rotarians work with microfinance institutions in Oikocredit’s network. • Grants available to districts in Philippines, and Uruguay for projects in those countries. • 4 grants per year.

8. Packaged Grant 4 • Project: Vocational Training Team • Strategic Partner: Mercy Ships • Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment • Rotarians recruit medical professionals such as surgeons, nurses and anaesthesiologists to travel to Mercy Ships location in West Africa. • Critical surgery and training to local health care professionals. • 4 grants per year.

9. Packaged Grants • Application is via the Rotary website • Log in via member access & navigate to • Grant Application Tools • Follow links to Packaged Grants. • Rotary clubs can propose/apply for Packaged Grants. • Fully funded by Foundation. • Clubs must be qualified & sign off MOU.

10. Global Grants. • Humanitarian projects • Scholarships for graduate-level academic studies • Vocational training teams, which are groups of professionals who travel abroad either to teach local professionals about a particular field or to learn more about their own

11. Global Grants • A key feature of global grants is partnership, between the district or club where the activity is carried out and a district or club in another country. Both sponsors must be qualified before they can submit an application.

Global Grants • MUST BE: • Be sustainable and include plans for long-term success after the global grant funds have been spent • Include measurable goals • Align with one of our areas of focus • Respond to real community needs • Actively involve Rotarians and community members • Meet the eligibility requirements in the grants terms and conditions

13. Global Grants • Applications are accepted throughout the year and reviewed as they are received. • The minimum budget for a global grant activity is US$30,000. The Foundation’s World Fund provides a minimum of US$15,000 and maximum of US$200,000. Clubs and districts contribute District Designated Funds (DDF) and/or cash contributions that the World Fund matches. DDF is matched at 100% and cash is matched at 50%.(in US$)

18. Global Grants • REQUIREMENTS prior to submission. • Signed MOU submitted to Grants Chair • Attendance at Global Grant Management Workshop conducted by appointment. • Entered Annual Programs Giving Goal on RI website for your Club.

21. District Grants • Application by the District can only be submitted ONCE in any Rotary Year. • Districts application is a consolidation of both club and district projects. • The District Grants Committee receive, review, and approve or reject applications prior to the successful applications being submitted to the Foundation

22. District Grants • The Foundation gives approval and pays district the funds by EFT to District Account. • District must be compliant with reporting on ALL grants both club and district • Must have signed off on District MOU on line.

23. District Grants • No project can commence beyond planning stage prior to Foundations Approval. • DISTRICT CANNOT REINBURSE CLUBS FOR PAYMENTS PRIOR TO APPROVAL BY FOUNDATION OFFICE • ALL travel by air must be booked through the Rotary International Travel Service (RITS).

District Grants • The District Process • Application Form • Report Form • Must include written report able to be published • Photographs • Detailed invoices and receipts • Evidence of competitive quotations for expensive items • Inventory of items purchase, location, responsible organisation. • Records kept for 5 years for audit purposes.
