  2. HTS Highway Transportation System What’s the purpose of the HTS?

  4. People • Drivers • Passengers • Pedestrians • Be aware that other people drive when they shouldn’t (assume the worst) -tired -sick -intoxicated

  7. Vehicle Code • Federal and state legislatures pass the laws which make up the Vehicle Code. • State and local police enforce the laws • State departments of motor vehicles set up rules and regulations for the control of drivers and motor vehicles

  8. Vehicle Code • Courts decide whether drivers charged with violating the laws are guilty or innocent • Local, county, and state traffic engineers maintain the roadways and traffic controls
