Tioga Top Ten Cont. • I will start to prepare for college now. • I will be in dress code every day. • I will come to school with all my assignments, school supplies, and fully prepared to learn. • Adults are in charge! • NO EXCUSES!
Dress Code Most Frequent Violations • No PIERCINGS. Only ears can be pierced. • Hairstyles that attract attention like MOHAWKS, hair cuts with symbols, writing, or unnatural colors (ex. purple braids), etc. are not allowed. • Nothing that is 50% or more red - this includes anything: Undergarments, undershirts, shirts, shorts, pants, folders, backpacks, belts, socks, ANYTHING!!!! • Flip-flop style shoes are prohibited. All shoes must have a strap on the back.
Dress Code Cont. • No professional team logos on ANYTHING (college attire is okay) • Ripped jeans must have leggings underneath (leggings cannot be worn without jeans) • Hats and beanies must face forward • No sagging • Shorts and skirts must be no more than 4 inches above the knee • All tops must cover undergarments completely. Straps must be 2 inches or more. • PE clothes cannot be worn in any other class other than PE. This includes light gray sweat shirts and sweat pants.
DRESS CODE – GANG APPAREL • ABSOLUTELY NO GANG RELATED APPAREL ON ANYTHING! • No Paisley bandanas (rags) of any color.
. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN CLASSES IF YOU ARE OUT OF DRESS CODE! STUDENTS OUT OF DRESS CODE WILL BE GIVEN AFTER SCHOOL DETENTIONNO EXCUSES! NO EXCEPTIONS! PARENTS EXPECT A CALL TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD.
Graffiti/tagging • No Graffiti/tagging writing will be allowed on anything. • You may have your name on your school supplies but in a regular font and that’s it.
School Bus Procedures • Riding the bus is a privilege, “NOT A RIGHT!” • Listen to the bus driver or you can be suspended from riding the bus.
Electronic Devices • NO electronic devices are allowed on campus except a cell phone • Cell phones should not be seen or heard in classrooms or the front office. • Keep your phone safe; Tioga does not replace lost or stolen phones.
Attendance/Tardies • We do tardy sweeps everyday, every period including1st. The 1st bell rings at 8:00AM. Don’t be late. • School opens at 7:30 for breakfast. • We assign lunch detention for every tardy. Parents if you are late, they still get detention. No Excuses. • Students with 2 or more tardies in one day will be assigned to ELC (afterschool detention) • We get out at 2:22PM. All students must be off campus by 2:30 unless they are in the ASP or in a sport.
Privilege List • Throughout the school year, there will be field trips, dances, and after school activities. Only students on the Privilege List can attend. In order to earn a spot on the privilege list you must: • Maintain a 2.0 GPA • Have not more than 2 N’s and/or U’s in citizenship on progress report • Refrain from being assigned Class B (On Campus Suspension) within 10 days from a privilege event. • Refrain from being suspended from school in the quarter before a privilege event. • Have served any/all detentions you may have been assigned. • Maintain good attendance (No A2A) letter.
Conflicts • If you are having problems with someone, you need to see an adult: Teacher, Staff, SE wingstaff……ANYONE!! • Taking matters into your own hands has consequences: • Dropping backpack, intimidating, others: 1-3 days Class B (OCS). • Pushing others: Suspension • Fights: 5 days suspension
Extended Learning Center (ELC) • Takes place from 2:30-3:30 everyday except Thursday • Assigned by administration • For students who are sent to the office for minor disruptions in class, dress code violations, minor defiance, etc.
Friday school • 2:30-5:00pm on Fridays • Students who excessively cut or are kicked out of HWC/Tardy. • Students are assigned for refusal to serve ELC during the week.
ATS/OCS (On Campus Suspension) • Class B is USUALLY assigned for: • Students who are sent out of two classes in one day. • Students sent out on step 5 in classes. • Students who use profanity towards students that disrupts learning.
ATS/OCS IS NOT… • A place to catch up on school work. • A place for students out of dress code. • A class that is assigned for an extended amount of time (5 days is usually the max)
Get Involved • Volunteer • Participating in an extracurricular activity—be it student government, a sport, a part-time job or volunteering—while maintaining good grades, demonstrates: • Time-management skills • Ability to prioritize • Motivation • Responsibility • Leadership qualities
