  2. The Process • The project took many weeks to compile enough facts to backup my thesis.

Eating Right Every Day • This disparity between low income and wealthier populations in nutrition has been caused by socioeconomic factors include income, food prices, accessibility and nutrition knowledge. This gap can be closed by educating Americans about nutrition and healthy low-cost eating habits, improving government programs and encouraging smart shopping and food consumption.

Low incomeVary your veggies • Food has become more expensive and therefore difficult to afford, especially for the people in poverty. • Incomes of the poor and in promoting food consumption hbut not nutrition • A typical school menu will include food commodities unwanted by restaurants and other major food services.

AccessibilityFocus on fruits • Dallas’ Wards 7 and 8 only have one grocery store per 70,000 people which causes congestion in stores and probably frequents sell outs of food • Chicago, Illinois supermarkets numbers are low in the about 1 million populated Southside compared to the Northside • In Los Angeles Where 10-20% of household income is less than the $35,000/yr, there are over 3 times as many supermarkets as in those where 60-70% of the households earn less than $35,000/yr.

Solutions Long Term • Economic changes in government and commercial arenas will improve financial conditions among low income people • Focusing on agribusiness strategies will help close the nutrition gap Short Term • Educating and encouraging health programs that will instruct people about low-cost diet habits • Smart shopping a personal benefit to low income on eliminating the disparity

  12. Conclusion • The disparity among low income and wealthier populations in health due to nutrition will be not being so easy to eliminate. That is why Shopping smart and education about nutrition is the key solution to this disparity. Doing research on food and making the old fashion shopping list with the help of technology is guaranteed to save low income people money and most of all sustain s healthy life
