Shortcomings in Teacher Technology Training
Ineffective Technology Maintenance System
4. Implementation of Kuglin Techgrow Consulting suggests that The Century School District investigate other successful methods for implementing change in Schools.
We recommend that the district seek information on and begin the process of accreditation following the initial three years of implementation.
5. Reaching Today’s Students The average student today utilizes technology as a major form of communication,(Instant Messenger) and therefore often has much more experience than their teacher.
These self taught students often feel as if they have little to learn about technology that they haven’t already discovered for themselves.
6. Recommended Policies for theCentury School Board:
Define and communicate a shared vision that states how technology will be used throughout the Century School District.
Provide students learning opportunities in all subject matter that are enhanced by technology.
Train and support teachers so they can provide innovative lessons include technology as a teaching aid and a research mechanism.
Provide teachers and students access to technology resources in every classroom.
Investigate, and eventually pursue accreditation for Century School District technological instruction methods.
7. Goals of Technology Plan Obtain support from faculty and staff for use of technology across the curriculum.
Incorporate technology into every child’s educative experience.
Create a supportive environment for teachers
Purchase items that lead to the realization of the vision.
Secure funding for continued use of technology and future upgrades.
Seek accreditation as a long term goal in the years following the initial three year grant.
8. Potential Barriers Funding: Training and new equipment costs could easily exceed current yearly monies for all operations. Even with the current grant, there will need to be a plan to seek further funding to continue to improve the hardware and software and increase its volume.
Acceptance: While many appreciate the need to include technology as an instruction tool within the classroom, many resist changes of this nature. This plan must overcome an unwillingness to accept technology as a valid teaching method.
Mandates: The State of Michigan and the Federal Government’s NCLB requirements do not include technology as a measurable subject. We must ensure that the technology we implement in no way jeopardized any State or Federal Mandate.

It is our intention that this plan encompassed the shared vision of all members of the district and that. It is our hope that this plan provides you with the direction you need to take Century School District into the future world of technology.
