Los Fresnos CISD, in cooperation with the greater community, will empower students, staff, and community members with the latest technology in a well-balanced Pre K-12 program. Los Fresnos CISD will prepare students for success in a global community rooted in the Communication Age. By the year 2012, every student in Los Fresnos CISD will be technologically literate, regardless of the student’s race, ethnicity, gender, family income, or disability. Teachers will utilize a variety of innovative technological approaches to produce graduates who are lifelong learners. Lfcisd District Technology Vision
The mission of the Los Fresnos CISD technology program is to create and maintain an environment whereby students, teachers, administrators, support staff, and the community can use technology as a tool to its fullest. Lfcisd District Technology Mission
By using technology as a tool, students will: • Expand their knowledge base • Improve their critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills • Access, gather, analyze, and synthesize information in expedient and creative formats • Work ethically, independently, and collaboratively with a diverse and changing population • Increase learning and productivity by having access to one (1) computer for every three (3) students Lfcisd District Technology Mission
By using technology as a tool, school personnel will: • Improve instructional strategies to increase student achievement and narrow the gapbetween high and low achievers regardless of their ethnicity, socioeconomic status, learning styles, or abilities • Accurately and efficiently assess, monitor, and communicate student information and activities to parents • Continuously improve professional skills through staff development in technology and through the sharing of skills and resources with colleagues • Provide immediate and easy access to information sources for instructional and administrative decision making • Provide, solicit, and secure adequate funding for technology maintenance, support, training, and equipment to fulfill the Los Fresnos CISD mission Lfcisd District Technology Mission

Teaching & Learning: Focuses on the instructional needs of teachers and the learning needs of students in meeting the vision of technology in education. • LFCISD Goal: to improve academic achievement and technology literacy of all students (LFCISD, p. 8) • LRPT Goal: All learners have access to relevant technologies, tools, resources and services for individualized instruction 24/7. (LRPT, p. 15) • NETP Goal: All learners will have engaging and empowering learning experiences both in and out of school that prepare them to be active, creative, knowledgeable, and ethical participants in our globally networked society. Educator Preparation and Development: addresses the staff development needs for all the members of the professional education community. • LFCISD Goal: To provide ongoing, sustained professional development for: teachers, principals, administrators, and school library media personnel to further the effective use of technology in the classroom and the library media center. (LFCISD p. 8) • LRPT Goal: Ensure integration of appropriate technology throughout all of curriculum and instruction. (LRPT, p. 15) • NETP Goal: Professional educators will be supported individually and in teams by technology that connects them to data, content, resources, expertise, and learning experiences that enable and inspire more effective teaching for all learners. Administration and Support Services: addresses the role of the technology leader to create a shared vision, encourage and sustain the appropriate integration of technology, use modern information technology tools, and continual assessment of effective technology for improving student learning. (LRPT, p. 15) • NETP Goal: Build the capacity of educators, education institutions, and developers to use technology to improve assessment materials and processes for both formative and summative uses. Infrastructure for Technology: focuses on hardware, software, and human infrastructure to support all four areas of the Long-Range Plan for Technology. • LFCISD Goal: Improve existing technology infrastructure in order to improve instruction, reduce cost, increase access to technology and comply with the Child Internet Protection Act. (LFCISD, p. 32) • LRPT Goal: Provide just-in-time technical assistance to support teaching and learning while implementing measures to ensure all data is secure and accurate. (LRPT, p. 15) • NETP Goal: Ensure every student and educator has at least one internet access device and appropriate software and resources for research, communication, multimedia content creation, and collaboration for use in and out of school.
