  22. Significant Safety Achievements- 5/17 • A total of 18 Work Activities were successfully renewed during May. Many involved EHS collaboration and lab visits. Another 6 are pending release by EHS. • New Work Activities Developed in May include: • CY-0018- Electron Beam Heater (Schwede) • ED-0028 and ED-0029- Use of Bruker XRF (Weber) • ED-0030- Hydrofluoric Acid Use (Tong) • ED-0031- Accelerated Aging of Solar Cell (Liu) • Telecommuter ergonomic evaluations have started. Instructions were sent out to affected workers. We are collecting home office photos. • ESDR conducted their first Safety Committee meeting. A number of action items were identified for the committee to work on. • I participated on a Effectiveness Review Team for the LBNL Electrical Safety Improvement Plan (ESIP). Several dozen interviews were conducted. • Approximately 20 non-returnable gas cylinders were sent out for disposal. • A “defective equipment” safety alert was distributed to affected personnel. • An inventory of Parr pressure reactors in ESDR was compiled. Equipment was inspected and storage locations identified.

  23. Short Term Safety Outlook 6/17 • Eight more Level 2 and Level 3 Work Activities are due for biannual/annual renewal in June. • Complete the telecommuter ergonomic assessments. There are 50 ETA workers that need to be evaluated. • Continue participation on the Hazardous Waste Requisition improvement team. • Assist with the new glove box installation in 70-226. • Coordinate EEIP electrical equipment inspections of non-NRTL ovens in B62 and B70. • Coordinate seismic restraints of ovens in ETA lab areas. • Continue with EHS walkthroughs of ETA lab spaces. • Assist Cyclotron Road Cohort 3 researchers with start-up of their projects. This includes set-up of new lab areas in B62.
