Significant Safety Achievements- 12/18 • We held our first ESDR Lab Area Safety Lead meeting. We discussed a number of safety topics relevant to their responsibilities. • All ETA office personnel were assigned EHS0260 “Basic Electrical Safety” training. We started with around 400 assignments and only have >40 remaining. • Approximately 20 old gas cylinders were identified in Building 70 and behind Building 64 and are in the process of either being returned to vendor or salvaged. • We completed a quarterly management safety walkthrough of Cyclotron Road lab areas in B62, B70, and Potter St. • All Astrileux chemicals stored at the Potter lab area were entered into the CMS and time sensitive chemicals were labeled. A new Work Activity, CY-0036 was drafted to account for the hazards/controls associated with these items. • All ETA lab areas completed a pre-shutdown checklist in preparation for the holiday shutdown. Everything was OK when we returned!
Short Term Safety Outlook 1/19 • Continue to complete new home telecommute ergonomic assessments. We have a large number pending submittal of office photos. • Start the lab area seismic protection self-assessment project. • Lab Area Safety Lead hands-on training will be implemented. • Continue efforts at improving the procurement process for NRTL listing of electronic equipment. • Continue old chemical clean-outs in ETA lab areas. A significant clean-out is currently underway in 70-218 and 70-295. • Complete the clean-out of old gas cylinders in Buildings 70 and 64. • Finalize procedures and Work Activity for the flammable refrigerant project in the B60 air conditioner test chambers. • Assist with the installation of the Hyet hydrogen compressor system somewhere in Building 70.
