What is Electricity? Atoms are tiny particles that make up all matter in life. Inside atoms, there are tiny particles called electrons. When electrons move between different atoms in a circuit, they produce electricity. Electricity is what makes your lights turn on at home.
What is Solar Energy? Solar energy is energy from the sun. The sun provides more energy than anything else on Earth.
How does Solar work? When the sun’s rays (energy) hit the solar panels on your roof, the panels turn those rays (energy) into electricity. Electricity is what makes your lights turn on. =
This process is similar to how Photosynthesis works with plants. The sun’s rays (energy) hit the plant which creates energy for the plant to make food.
Our school Currently the system at Fireside school is 10kW. This system will produce 13,432kWh per year. In one year, this system can power 31 computers, 24 hours a day for the entire school year. If those computers are shut down at the end of each school day, it could power 111 computers for the entire school year! =
Fireside This is what your school would look like if it was producing 100% of the electrical usage.
