My Real World Problem • Jonathan and 3 friends are going on a camping trip and want to have one bag of marshmallows for everyone. If one bag of marshmallows cost $1.25, how much would it cost if everyone had a bag.
The Equation • My equation to the problem is… Y=1.25x or f(x)=7.25x X= The number of bags of marshmallows. Y= The total cost.
Independent and Dependent • The independent variable is my x which is the number of Marshmallow bags. • The dependent variable is my y which is the total cost. Y depends on X • So the cost Depends on the number of bags of marshmallows.
Domain and Range Domain is the x values Range is the y values My Domain is (1,2,3,4,5) My Range is (1.25,2.50,3.75,5.00,6.25)
Continuous or Discrete? • My data only contains points and lines then it is a Discrete. • You cant buy halfves of marshmallow bag only 1,2,3,4,5 ect.
Is it a Function? • A Function is when the X’s do not Repeat. • My X’s are 1,2,3,4,5/ • Yes my number are a Function because they don’t repeat.
After Wards • So the total cost of Bags of Marshmallow for everyone would be $6.25.This isn’t including the rest of the food or camping supplies so I guess that’s for later on…
