  1. Now read Shakespeare's account of Richard III (p. 31, Lee) The reputation of some English Kings is notorious. Write down anything you know or think you know about Richard III.

  2. The Big Picture • Key issue 2: The accession of Edward IV and the usurpation by Richard III : • 'The sudden death of Edward IV results in an intense Yorkist family feud that restarts the wars of the Roses, leads to two usurpations and the disappearance of two princes'.

  3. Learning outcomes By the end of this lesson you will be able to: • tell the story of the ‘Princes in the Tower’ • identify the main murder suspects and their motives • explain why the disappearance of the ‘princes’ was catastrophic for Richard III

  4. The Princes in the Tower (See pages 20-22, Lee for an introduction to the legend of the Princes in the Tower ) Activity • Watch the video clip about the Princes in the Tower • Information collection – Identify the main suspects in the murder mystery.

  5. Demonstrate • Read 'How important is this mystery?', p.22, Lee and write a paragraph explaining why the disappearance of the Princes in the Tower was catastrophic for Richard III.
