E-Portfolios & Student Blogs • Introduction • E-portfolio is an open sources, web based personal publishing system. Dumfries and Galloway College has developed this tool to support students and assist them to develop employability skills and integrate work in other areas of their course. They maintain the e-portfolio and can include photographic evidence from practical workshops, and use the e-portfolio to shop window for self promotion and employment. • The e-portfolio helps the learner gain skills which will have a long lasting and positive impact on their learning, improve learner retention, progression and achievement. It supports lifelong learning and encompasses the concepts of personal development planning and evaluation. • Blogs are an online journal(or diary) used in the main as a communication tool.
