  4. JIM MALONE • Single & older • Ordinary Chicago “beat cop” • Confronts Ness • Propositioned by Ness to join him against Capone (rejects Ness) • Agrees to help Ness (blood oath)

  5. “You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the ‘Chicago’ way! And that's how you get Capone.”

  6. OSCAR WALLACE • Single • Accountant working for the F.B.I. • Wants to get Capone on tax evasion (for not paying taxes for 3 years… a crime)

  7. CATHERINE NESS • Married to Eliot Ness • 1 child (daughter) • Pregnant • VERY supportive of her husband

  8. GEORGE STONE • Enrolled in Chicago police academy • Single • Italian-American (Giuseppe Petri) • Recruited by Ness to serve on the special squad “If you're afraid of getting a rotten apple, don't go to the barrel. Get it off the tree.” - Malone

  13. FRANK NITTI • “hitman” for Al Capone • Always wears a white suit • Blows up speakeasy in early scene (refuses to buy Capone’s beer) • Intimidates lawmen for Capone

  14. MIKE DORSETT • Police chief for the city of Chicago • Introduces Ness to press when he is assigned to city • “working” for Capone providing inside information

  15. WALTER PAYNE • Al Capone’s bookkeeper • One of the only people that can decipher Capone’s ledger (key to uncovering Capone’s illegal enterprises)
