  4. “Lust of the Flesh”APPETITE • Definition: physical hunger, craving for bodily satisfaction, desire for fleshly fulfillment – as in smoking, drinking beer, using illegal drugs, sexual desires outside of marriage. • Lust of the flesh is included in such words as: “lasciviousness”, “reveling” • Springs from: “happy hour”, “prom”, “mixed swimming”, “pornography”

  8. “Lust of the Eyes”AVARICE • Definition: “excessive desire for wealth” (Webster) The “lust of the eyes” is the avenue of greed, materialistic gain, luxury, etc. Comes in the form of gambling, accepting bribes, overwork, cheating, being miserly usury.

  13. “Pride of Life”ARROGANCE • VICTIMS OF: - Eve, the mother of all living was the first victim of this avenue of temptation. - Haman (Esther 3) - Pharisee in Christ’s parable (Luke 18) He told God how good he was in fasting, giving, and not a sinner like other people. - Diotrephes (3 John 9) He wanted to have preeminence, opposed John and cast some out of the church.
