  1. As told in Luke Chapter 4 The Temptation of Jesus

  2. Jesus was led by the holy spirit to go fast in the desert for forty days. He knew he would be tempted in three ways, but with the help of God stayed strong.

  3. 1. Pride The first temptation was to test Jesus’ pride. The Devil went to Jesus and said “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” Jesus Replied: “It is written ‘one does not live by bread alone.’ “

  4. 2. Power The second temptation of Jesus was Power. The Devil said to him, “I shall give you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed to me and I may give it to whoever I wish.” Jesus replied, “It is written ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him alone shall you serve.’ “

  5. 3. Life The third temptation questions Jesus’ ability to live through anything. The Devil said to Jesus, “If you are the son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you, and with their hands they will support you less you dash your foot against a stone.’ “ Jesus replied, “It also says, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.’ “

  6. The Last Day After tempting Jesus through the forty days he was in the desert fasting, and Jesus not once fell for the temptation, he departed for a time.
