  2. What is HATE? Hate defined-- to feel hostility or animosity toward. To detest. A feeling of utter hostility and disgust. [Note: The words “detest, abhor, and loathe” are all synonyms of hate.]

  3. Should We Hate Hating? There are those who detest, abhor & loathe anyone who hates anything. They hate haters! But are there not some things that should be hated if we love God? What about assaults on innocent children, inhumane treatment of the mentally ill, or cheating the elderly? Hate is a God-given emotion that has an appropriate use!

  4. God Loves!

GOD also HATES! “There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes,A lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, One who spreads strife among brothers.” -- Proverbs 6:16-19

  6. God also hates… Abominable acts of pagan worship (Deuteronomy 12:31) Divorce (Malachi 2:16) Homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22) Sacred pillars erected to worship false gods. (Deuteronomy 16:22)

  7. If we RESPECT God, we will love what He loves and hate what He hates! “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way, and the perverted mouth, I hate.” -- Proverbs 8:13

  8. If we LOVE God, let us love what He loves and hate what He hates! You who love the LORD, hate evil! -- Psalm 97:10 “Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate.”-- Amos 5:15
