The symbol of the country • Toucans belong to the family of Ramphastidae. They are brightly marked and have large, colorful bills. The family includes five genera and about forty different species. This bird is what characterizes the country and we have chosen it since it’ s extremely beautiful and rare.
Where Costa Rica is in the world • Costa Rica is located in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the east and south, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south and the Carribean Sea to the east.
The area of Costa Rica is 51,100 sq. Km. • Its capital city is San Jose with a population of 2.1 million in the greater metropolitan area. • Other major cities outside the San Jose capital area are Puntarenas, Limon, and Liberia. • Costa Rica is a democratic republic

This is what we most want to achieve at this conference • We want to show that our country, despite being rather unknown to the European community, has the same major problems as the more economically developed and important countries of the world.
