Camp Ozark Kaysie Cargill Summer 2009 SPMT 484 Internship
Contact Information • Camp Ozark • 155 Camp Ozark Dr. Mount Ida, AR 71957 • (870)867-4131 • debbie@campozark.com
Site Rank I give Camp Ozark 5 stars for many reasons. It provided me with great real world experience, such as problem solving, being flexible, facilitating the production of many projects, making decisions that affect the entire camp, communicating with the owner and directors, and having fun all at the same time! It is a paid internship that is well over 520 hours of work, but totally worth it because you are there to make Camp Ozark the very best experience that the campers aged 7 to 17 could possibly have. I would recommend this internship to anyone!
The Small Gym This is where my project, the Creative Skills Exhibition was held.

Internship Objectives • To become trained in coordinating the afternoon program of all camp days during the summers. While learning this position I will sub in for the person that does this job now so that I will become equipped and comfortable with the task. Also, I will help in making the schedules for all counselors in every aspect of the camping session of two weeks. • To become trained in staff coordination, including travel, administration, and other aspects of the coordinating process. • To evaluate the gymnastics and all creative skills, including tumbling, hip hop, dance team, jazz, and stunting. Also, help to change and implement issues with these areas to make them more safe and fun for the campers. • To become familiarized with making the schedules for all counselors in every aspect of the camping session of two weeks. • To become familiarized with the big picture concepts of Camp Ozark.
Project Description • I oversaw the entire production of the 2009 Creative Skills Exhibition. This included planning the theme, ordering props, choosing music, choreography of routines, facilitating the dress rehearsal and flow of the different classes coming together to perform, and the actual event itself. When I facilitated the event I was in charge of getting all campers and counselors to the gym on time and ready to perform, having the parents know where to stand and communicating rules of the small gym to them, and making sure that the entire production ran smoothly.
