6 th Grade Library Procedures. Library Day is every other Thursday. Library Day. Take your library books out as soon as you walk into the room. You will read while I take attendance and prepare to leave. I will usually give directions or reminders before asking everyone to line up.

  1. 6th Grade Library Procedures Library Day is every other Thursday.

  2. Library Day • Take your library books out as soon as you walk into the room. • You will read while I take attendance and prepare to leave. • I will usually give directions or reminders before asking everyone to line up. • Take your books and walk calmly and quietly out of the room.

  3. Getting Lined Up • Do not line up at the door first, go directly to the hallway. • Line up in a Single File Line by the wall and wait silently. • Be sure that you are not standing in front of a classroom door. (It’s okay to break our line) • Stand still and silent until everyone is out & I have locked the door. • I will tell the first person when to go.

  4. Walking Down the Hall • Walk calmly & Silently to the library. • Stay in a single file line. • Keep your hands to yourself. • Stop at the end of the lockers before entering the library. • Wait for permission to enter.

  5. Entering the Library • If you have bags, purses, etc. place them on the shelf upon entering. • Turn your books in to the book drop. • Stay in line to renew books. • Browse for new books and check out when you are ready.

  6. Library Rules • Browse for books alone, not in groups! • Be quick and be quiet. • You may sit in the sofa sections only if you have checked out or renewed a book. • You may read a magazine, but you must be sitting at a table.

  7. Leaving the Library • I will give you a 2 minute notice before we leave. • When I indicate that it is time to go, please clean up. • Return magazines and books to the appropriate location. • Push in Chairs. • After you have cleaned up, go directly to the hall & line up by the lockers to wait. • You may get a quick drink, but you may not use the restroom.

  8. Library On Your Own • Sign in to laptop & ask to use the computers. Enter id number at circulation desk • Keep backpacks/large purses on shelves in front of the library. • Inside voices are required. • Leave the library cleaner than when you found it. • Be respectful of others. • Use technology at appropriate times.
