  1. Historical Fiction C.T.Q.’s

  2. Day 1 In a paragraph, describe the setting of the book. State where and when the book takes place and any other information that illustrates that this is a historical fiction story.

  3. Day 2 In a paragraph, describe how the author has tried to grab your attention (descriptions, problems, dialogue). Give an example of what the author has done and state whether or not it has worked.

  4. Day 3 In a paragraph, make a prediction about your book. Be sure to include why you are making your prediction using specific events from the book.

  5. Day 4 In a paragraph, describe how you know what time period your book takes place in. Make sure to include all relevant information that indicates the time period.

  6. Day 5 Choose one character from the story and describe their behavior and what caused this behavior. Also, state whether you agree or disagree with their behavior and if you would have done anything differently.

  7. Day 6 In a paragraph, describe if the author’s craft has changed. If their craft has changed, explain how and give an example. If it has not changed, explain if you are still captivated by the story.

  8. Day 7 In a paragraph, give a summary of the book so far. Be sure to include specific events from the story.

  10. Day 9 Copy and fill in the following cause and effect chart with events from this chapter: Effect Cause

  11. Day 10 In a paragraph, choose one character and describe how they act or think like a real person. Be sure to include specific examples from the story.

  12. Day 11 Choose one character from the book and in a paragraph pretend you are that character. State what you are thinking and why. Be sure to use specific examples and details from the book.

  13. Day 12 In a paragraph, predict how the story is going to end. Be sure to include the major problem in the story and how you think it will be solved. Use specific events and details to back up your statements.

  14. Day 13 Write a cause and effect paragraph using events from the story. Be sure to state what event caused another event to happen. Be sure to include specific examples and details from the story.
