Who am I? • Researcher in hydrology and climate change impacts at Newcastle University • Environmental engineering degree in 2005 • Worked in hydrology in the private sector for six years • PhD in Newcastle University
What was I doing? PhD in: “Water resources and drought in international Iberian river basins under future climates”. • Looking at future changes in: • Rainfall • Droughts • Discharges • Using: • CMIP5 • Change factor and quantile mapping
What did I learn? • The importance of accounting for uncertainty when planning adaptation to climate change • The need to re-think how we use climate projections in the impact community
What did I learn? • How different thinks can be in different research fields careful with assumptions! • Interdisciplinarity is challenging but fundamental!
What am I doing now? 13 institutions across 8 European countries: European research project: My contribution: to develop a high level analysis of the impacts of climate change in flooding, droughts and heat waves in European cities
