  3. What Are The Main Types of Pasta? I only recently found out that there are about 350 pasta varieties. Perhaps that's why pasta is globally considered one of the best feel-good foods. Here are a few types that seem to be more popular than others. 1. Spaghetti Pasta One of the most popular and loved pasta is spaghetti. Its long, thin, noodle structure is highly preferred by most pasta fans. Made from milled wheat and water, spaghetti can further be divided into fresh and dry varieties. Using no more than a rolling pin and a knife, fresh pasta is easy to make at home. Dry pasta, on the other hand, is manufactured in factories and then distributed in bulk.

  4. What Are The Main Types of Pasta? 2. Penne Pasta This cylindrical shaped pasta will most likely be found in household pantries across the globe. It is suitable for most combinations of sauces and pairings. Penne pasta is produced in two variants - smooth and furrowed. Traditionally, this is cooked to be firm, making it a great choice for a snack or even as a main course. 3. Wheat Pasta Only recently introduced, wheat pasta is the healthier version of the Italian food item that caters to the health-conscious. While the benefits are considered in this type, it is often preferred by fewer people or those who don’t prioritize taste when it comes to pasta. Heavy in nutrients like carbs, protein, fiber, iron, magnesium, and zinc wheat pasta is the go-to choice for a healthier option.

  5. What Are The Main Types of Pasta? 4. Pappardelle The long flat type of pasta that we often see being served is called pappardelle pasta. While it's not usually found in households, this type of pasta is ideal for hearty meat sauces like bolognese. 5. Macaroni Popular with kids and generically a crowd-pleaser, macaroni is a popular type of pasta found all over. Often paired with cheese, this tube-shaped pasta makes the perfect choice when paired with sauces that fill up the hollow insides. As stated, there are many more types of pasta consumed in various parts of the world, but the above are definitely the more popular ones. Hope this helps.
