What is PebblePad? • E-portfolio system providing an online tool which places students at the centre of their own learning, reflection and evaluation process • Allows the dynamic linking of work, reflection, goals, action plans etc.
Background • Paper based Student Qualities Profile • Increasing use of e-portfolio systems in HE • Evaluation of systems available • PebblePad selected as most appropriate by ELDG
Implementation • Phase 1 [Oct 07 – Jan 08] – Staff only pilot and feedback • Phase 2 [Feb 08 – May 08] – 14 small pilot groups of students with a specific learning goal • Phase 3 [Sept 08 onwards] – make available to all students
PDP and PebblePad • Originally developed as a system for supporting PDP at Wolverhampton • Profile tool allows skills audit • Reflection encouraged throughout the system • Scaffolded action planning tool • Versatile presentation tools for a range of audiences
PDP and PebblePad (2) • Allows users to selectively share individual or groups of assets • Can share with anyone via email link • Ability to publish to the Web • The user has complete control over their own e-portfolio
Uses of PebblePad elsewhere • Wolverhampton – Pathfinder project • Coventry – Add+vantage modules • Surrey – Personal and Professional Development module
