  2. Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), Scottish writer and poet he is one of the greatest historical novelists and Poets.

  3. Walter Scott was born on August 15, 1771 in Edinburgh, Scotland. • He attended Edinburgh High school and studied at Edinburgh University arts and Law. • Scott created and popularized historical novels in a series called the Waverley Novels.

  4. The Central themes of many of Scott’s novels are about the conflicts between opposing cultures • For example: “The Talisman” (1825) is about conflict between Christians and Muslims.

  5. Scott’s amiability, generosity, and modesty made him popular with his contemporaries. He was also famous for entertaining on a grand scale at his Scottish estate.
