February 7, 2011 The City of Richmond welcomes the world to join us for the BWF 5thWorld Senior Championship, to be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval, the site for the Olympic Speed Skating. The last World Senior Championship was in Punta Umbria, Spain, 2009 and was previously held in Taipei, China, 2007, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2005 and Sofia, Bulgaria, 2003. Richmond is part of the metropolitan area of Vancouver, Canada. A bridge is the only separation between Vancouver and Richmond.. Vancouver International Airport is just minutes away from the Oval
All entries must be approved by the participant’s country’s Badminton Association and forwarded to the Badminton World Federation for registration. The age categories and events are: 35+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles 40+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles 45+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles 50+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles 55+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles 60+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles 65+ men and woman’s single, doubles, and mixed doubles And 70+ as a demonstration age category There is a limit of four entries per country per event Qualification to enter is determined by eachCountry’s badminton association. .
