Social entrepreneurs in the UK 1.7m people run a social venture in the UK 1m people are early stage social entrepreneurs 238,000 trying to start a social venture each year Half of social ventures employ noone Power law of number vs scale 25% of all nascent entrepreneurial activity is social social entrepreneurship is more common amongst the young (20’s to 40’s), minorities, disadvantaged, degree educated; it is gender neutral social ventures started by older people more likely to sustain
