Some Observations • Overall membership improving in Feb. 2004, after significant (student membership) decline in 2003 Early cut-off was applied first time in Feb 2003 ! • M, SM, F strengths increased notably in 2003 !! • As of Dec 2003 by 17%, 9%, 8% respectively • Our BASICS are OK and strengthening: • M, SM, F strengths improving As of Feb 2004 by 14%, 15%, 9% respectively • These are the long-term indicators • Student membership is increasing w.r.to 2003 • As of Feb 2004 by 7.8% • Even in 2003, 42 new Student Branches were formed Region 10 Meeting

11. 2004 PLANS • HG Membership growth goal: 2% Addition of 856 HG Members w.r.to Dec. 2003 • STUDENT Membership growth: 15% (from –25.28%) Addition of 2210 students w.r.to Dec. 2003 • Overall membership growth: 5% (from –7.23%) Addition of 3066 members w.r.to Dec. 2003 Region 10 Meeting

12. Need to do in 2004 Besides your normal MD programs: • SPECIAL EFFORT NOW on members who have not renewed by Feb. 2004 cut-off • SPECIAL EFFORT on Student members, Student Branches and graduating Student members -- Take best help from your GOLD Group • GOOD EFFORT on upgrades of: • Members to Senior Members • Fellows nominations, especially from Industry • Associates to Members ENLARGE YOUR MD Committee to implement above !! Region 10 Meeting

13. Help on Student members Student membership decline is the BIGGEST MD problem in R10. And needs special attention. SUGGESTIONS to Sections: • Use recent graduates of colleges (GOLD), their closeness and connections to their alma mater • They can greatly help keep a check on Student members, Student Branches and graduating Student members and raise alert • This will compliment efforts of the college’s Counselor and Mentor • This process has already started in some Sections Region 10 Meeting

IEEE R10 MDC R10 Rebates to Sections • Sections will receive $50 for each new Student Branch started in 2003 • Sections will receive for each Student Branch $1 per student member as of Dec. 31, 2003 PLEASE arrange to distribute these rebates to the respective Student Branches positively !!
