Introduction This program has been made just for second grade students to learn about the Life Cycle of the Butterfly. When the learner finishes this lesson, he or she will be able to identify the four stages in the Life Cycle of the Butterfly with 100% accuracy. I hope that as you learn about butterflies, you will want to know more. What is a Butterfly? A butterfly is an insect. Like all insects the butterfly’s body has three main parts – the head, the thorax and the abdomen. They also have six legs (three pairs), two antenna and four wings. Wings Antenna Head Abdomen Legs Thorax

The Adult In the last stage, after weeks and possibly months, the pupa case splits and a butterfly emerges. It takes several hours for the wings to dry and harden. Then it flies away to begin the cycle over again. Butterfly wings are wet when they leave the chrysalis. Yes or No TOC
