PREPARING OF HOT COOKED MEALS The hot cooked meals is prepared by engaging Cooks and Helpers on payment of half day Daily Wages rates under the minimum wages Act. Every school is provided with two gas cylinders & Chullahs with required cooking equipments. Safe drinking water supply is available in each school. FOOD GRAINS (RICE) Under the MDM programme, Govt. of India provides food grains (Rice) free of cost through Food Corporation of India for ten academic months at the quantum of 100 gram rice per day per child from Std. I to V and 150 gram per day per child rice for Std. VI & VIII
Preparation Mid Day Meal Scheme (Std.I-V)Children are getting 650 Calories and 12 gram Proteins every day • 100 gram Rice per day per child • 020 gram Dal (Tur / Mung) per day per child • 50 gram Green Vegetables every day. • 5 gram oil per day per child • Other ingredients item like salt,chili, haldi, dhana-jeera powder. Mid Day Meal Scheme (Std. VI - VIII) Children are getting 900 Calories and 20 gram Proteins every day • 150 gram Rice per day per child • 30 gram Dal (Tur / Mung) per day per child • 75 gram Green Vegetables every day. • 7.5 gram oil per day per child • Other ingredients item like salt, chili, haldi, dhana-jeera powder.
Best practice followed in the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli • The evaluation study of MDM conducted by IIE Pune found satisfactory and in their finding they stated that children are happy with meal served and green vegetables use in MDM. • Green vegetables are provided @ Rs. 0.50 per child per day for all days of the week.
