Research question When systemic trust and personal trust are measured and classified, how do the co-operative networks in various development phases differ from each other? ”Systemic trust appears in relationships with abstract systems.” ”Personal trust appears in relationships with autonomic individuals.”(Seligman 1997)

  4. The Lohja Environmental Cluster • Network is trusted as a system • Well-established interaction • Open atmosphere • Members do not compete with each other • Network has clear strategic goals

The LLL Project • ’Sparsely knit’ network • Trust in network is of the personal kind • Network of low density, the level of co-operation was generally vague • Organisations were practically mutual competitors • Personal relationships are emphasized • Formation of trust requires long and intensive interaction • During the project interaction was scarce

  15. The Lohja Cluster → Density 0,32 → Systemic trust The LLL Project → Density 0,15 → Personal trust The higher degree of densityin network,the more trust is based on the systemic level The less dense the network is, the more trust applies at personal level Network’s density versus trust

  16. Conclusions • One member (Kisakallio Sports Institute) is placed differently in two networks → supports the hypothesis stating that the density and the level of activity of co-operation affect the appearance of trust • Density of the Karkkila cluster almost equals with the Lohja cluster in the same stage of development • It can be assumed that the trust will develop to the systemic kind also in Karkkila → Must be validated with new measurements!
