What is a Development Plan? • It is the main public statement of planning policies for the local community/plan area. • It generally lasts for 6 years. • It sets out the land use, amenity and development objectives and policies for the area for the lifetime of the plan. • The plan consists of a written statement of objectives and a map or series of maps. What will be in the Plan? • A strategy for sustainable development, • A statement to show the development objectives are consistent with conservation and protection of the environment, and • A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and an Appropriate Assessment (AA) which will contain information on the likely significant effects on the environment and habitats of implementing the Plan. How Can I make a Submission? Submissions or observations can be received in writing between the 1st of March and 29th of April 2013 and should be marked “Pre-draft submissions for County Development Plan Review” and addressed to; Tom O’Dwyer, Administrative Officer, Planning Section, South Tipperary County Council, Emmett Street, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. Submissions and observations can also be made by e-mail during the dates set out above from the links on www.southtippcoco.ie and submissions or observations received by e-mail to devplan@southtippcoco.ie and will be accepted until 5pm on the 29th of April 2013.
