Personalizing your Course Home Pages Why personalize? • Personalizing the introductory text of the Course Home pages makes the classroom more welcoming for the students. • It also gives the classroom an active feeling, taking away the sterile quality of the classroom shell.
Where do I personalize? • The main page where the announcements are located • Student Lounge Area • Questions for the Professor • Please Read and Respond
How do I personalize these areas? • Make sure you are using the AUTHOR tab on the left side of the course when you want to make changes! • Use colors for your announcements and fonts HTML color codes can be found at www.webmonkey.com (a HTML cheat sheet can be accessed from this site too) • Add introductory text and or images
To personalize the introductory text, click on create new content
Add your course information as required above. Then click the Continue Button
After putting in the course introduction, click on Save & Preview.
Once you are satisfied with your introduction to the course, click the Done with Editing Button. If you still want to make changes, click the Continue Editing Button.
Click “Edit Intro Text” to personalize the Student Lounge Click here to personalize
An Edit Student Lounge box will appear Personalize the area by typing and/or adding images to the “Edit Student Lounge” box
Use the tool bar to add an image to your introductory text Use this button to insert images or files
Use the “Edit Introductory Text” to personalize Questions for the Professor and the edit box will appear
Click on “Edit Introductory Text” in Please Read and Respond and the edit box will appear
Tips for a successful start • Use your course set up checklist • Contact the faculty member team leader or mentor with questions • Make sure you pay attention to the deadlinesfor the course set up or your course could be reassigned to a different instructor
