What is a Coat of Arms? - Amidst constant warfare in early twelfth century, helmets and armor masked knight’s identity to a fault- Colorful designs with unique symbols used to instantly identify warrior on the battlefield- VERY important to have emblems as few could read or write- Over time, shield designs became point of family pride to their owners- A family's heraldry said, "This is who we are, and we ARE special.”
