Title I Staff • Georgia Campbell: Full-time Title I Coordinator and interventionist for reading and math • Susan Damm: Full-time Ed Tech II for reading and math • Shirley Schrader: Part-time interventionist for math • David Jensen: Part-time Ed Tech II for reading and math
Assessments • NWEA – Northwest Evaluation Association - grades 3 – 10 • Fall and spring for all students, spring for 2nd grade, mid year for Title 1 students and/or students of concern • CPAA – Children’s Progress Academic Assessment – grades K – 3 • Every 6 weeks for K – 3 • DRA – Developmental Reading Assessment • Fall and Spring for grades 1 and 2, Spring only for grades K, 3, 4, and 5 • LEXIA – ongoing throughout the year
Assessments Continued Spelling Inventories- done when deemed necessary • Rigby Benchmark reading tests • Throughout the year to continually monitor student growth and make placement decisions • Sight word lists and other Classroom tests (such as Envisions Math Topic Test). • iXL online math program • Teacher observations
Criteria and Procedure for Identification • All new incoming students in grades K-8 are given the DRA in order to determine current reading level. • The previous year’s Spring DRA scores are reviewed to determine which students are reading below grade level. • Conversations occur with the classroom teachers to see if they concur. • All available pertinent assessments are reviewed, including students’ academic history. • We use the NWEA data in grades 3-8 • Student progress is monitored all year long and students are moved in and out of the program as deemed necessary.
Reading Interventions Available for Students Lexia • Soar to Success Reading Program • Hooked on Phonics • Wilson • Sylvan 3-5 grades Reading Success Program • Hooked on Spelling • S.P.I.R.E (A Specialized Program Individualizing Reading Excellence) • Great Leaps • Dolch Kit • Leveled Books for reading • Resources for teaching word sorts and syllable blending • Assorted games • Various internet sites such as www.starfall.com.
Math Interventions Available for Students • Envisions Intervention Component • iXL • Hooked on Math (Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division • Assorted manipulatives and teacher resources • Assorted math games • Various internet resources
Expanded and Improved Services • Tier 2 in-class interventions (to meet RTI guidelines) • Expanded to give support to Middle School students in reading and math • Smaller intervention groups and rare 1:1 for Title 1 students • Reinforced the K-2 Literacy Block with enough staffing to keep groups small (RTI) • Facilitate use of Lexia (progress monitoring – RTI) • Proctoring assessments and/or providing coverage for teachers so they can proctor • Extended consistent group time • Coverage of duties
