CSP PLANS 2010 • 08/10 Goals and Actions agreed and published. • As shown in to-days presentations actions for 2009 are well on target. • 2010 is the final year of the current CSP 3 year Plan. It is 10 years since the start of the first CSP Plan
CSP PLANS 2010 • In the short term completion of 2009 work is most important. • Working Groups (not committees) key to achieving progress. • CSP will meet again on 1st of December to consider the feedback from this Forum, proposals from Working Groups and the Core Management Group in order to finalise CSP Plans for 2010
CSP PLANS 2010 • A key factor for the completion of the work and roll out the CSP initiatives is the continuing support of Dara Calleary TD Minister for Labour Affairs at the Dept. of Enterprise Trade and Employment, HSA and FAS. • The support and commitment in the Ministers message today is of significance.
Key Targets in 2010 • Benchmarking: • Increase number of contractors participating and benefiting. • Emergence of Performance data for on going sectoral Benchmarking (CSP/HSA) • Basis for sectoral comparisons with EU Member States • Potential to extend the data input range to give added value to the participating contractors.
Key Targets 2010 • Procurement; • Gain acceptance of the Dept of Finance, Local Authorities and HSA for the introduction of the CSP Standardised Pre Qualification Safety Document. • Develop the model document further for use on bigger projects and for Contractor/PSCS use. • Provide supporting “Safety in Procurement” guidance for small contractors. • Consider on-line options
Key Targets 2010 • Joint Safety Council- Trends and Emerging Issues • The Joint Safety Council in conjunction with HSA to disseminate the new guidance on the safe use of Quick Hitch Devices. • Collaborate further with the Construction Workers Health Trust on Occupational Health and Lifestyle issues • Continue to monitor and respond accordingly to new safety and health issues in 2010
Key Targets 2010 • Assist Small Contractors • Promote, distribute and support the new SM20 System. • Seek alliances and sponsorship to maximise take up of the system countrywide • Provide workshops and localised support for contractors using the system • Evaluate and review
Key Targets 2010 • Site Safety Representatives Facilitation • Continue site visits, dialogue with Site Managers and Workers. • Provide on-going support for SSRs and monitor and react to feedback. • Continue to provide the approved sectoral FETAC certified course for Site Safety Representatives. • Review/update course syllabus and assessment. • Continue the CSP Site Safety Representative of the Year Award
Key Targets 2010 • Monitor and review the Construction Skills Certification Scheme and Safe Pass.( incl. mobility/mutual recognition and cost issues) • Monitor and review Safe-T-Cert the sectoral Safety Management System • Continue with HSA, to progress the mainstreaming of H&S on key Third Level courses
Key Targets 2010 • Continue to improve the information on csponline.ie • Subject to available funding finalise actions for 2010 in Dec/Jan • CSP to meet 4 times in 2010 • CSP Construction Safety Forum in Sept • Review and evaluate the CSP Plan and Actions 2008/2010. • Consider CSP options for 2011/2013
