System architecture INFOLOG, TRIM and TCMS By Kay Fjørtoft, Marintek
System architecture: • Today’s situation for IT-users along a logistic chain is as follows: • The systems in use are basically not integrated • The system users have very often a long list of wishes for new functionality • New technology appears frequently and supports more efficient solutions • Integration of new technology will very often affect existing solutions
Today’s situation: The situation today reflects continuos changes of needs and solutions for an IT-system. The requirements for a system can change rapidly in parallel with development of new functionality. It is therefore important to have a changeable system that are open for modifications. Specially is it important for companies inside a transport sector to be able to meet new challenges and be able to change functionality rapidly.
System architecture for exchange of EDI messages Messages (EDIFACT, XML, etc) Converts data to standardised format. Control the communication with other systems Interpreter/Converter Parser Treatment rules for the process of acknowledging messages from external systems Handler Transforms local data definitions to and from common data definitions, e.g. TRIM Functions/components to treat the integration with local database Components/prog.systems Database to store the information Database
