How the Huron Interacted with Other Tribes • The Huron were enemies of the Iroquois. The Huron and the Iroquois were enemies because the Huron had a strong relationship with the French. The Iroquois wanted that relationship. They knew that the Huron wouldn’t give up that relationship. So they attacked the Huron.

What Huron children did They do the same things we do .They play with the each other, go to school, and help around the house. Huron children like to go hunting and fishing with their fathers. Kids use to have more chores and less time to play . They had corn husk dolls, toys, and games to play such as snow snake where kids tried to glide a game piece across the snow the farthest across the snow. Women and Men’s Roles • Like their distant cousins the Iroquois, the Huron had an even division of power between women and men. Huron men were in charge of hunting , war, and diplomacy. Huron women were in charge of farming, property, and family. Men made political decisions for the tribe ,and women made decisions for the clans, only men got to be chief but only women could vote on who got to be chief.
Stories That Huron Tell There are lots of traditional Huron legends and fairy tales. Story telling is very important to the Huron culture. One of the stories they used to tell is called “Creation of the World”. Today, some people say the whole world still rests on Big Turtle’s back.
