The NOI-Gallup Poll • The NOI/Gallup Poll is designed to yield a representative opinion of Nigerians through the following features: • Face-to-face interviews • 2000 people aged 15 and above • 6 geopolitical zones • Interviews conducted in English, Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, and Pidgin English • Sampling and analysis conducted with robust survey methodologies developed by The Gallup Poll

And how? • 87% of Nigerians say corporations should support the communities in which they operate • 35% think that oil and gas companies give the most • 1 in 2 respondents say the best way to give back is by providing social services especially water, boreholes and hospitals • 47% of people with primary education or less say social services is best way to give back compared to 17% of those with tertiary education • As age increases so does the percent of Nigerians saying providing social services is the best way for companies to give back to communities • 1 in 4 say giving scholarships is the best way to give back • Especially those 30 – 45 years old (age bracket of people with children in school)

Who should be responsible for the provision and maintenance of infrastructure? • 9 in 10 (91%) Nigerians say the government should be responsible for the provision of infrastructure (roads, boreholes, hospitals) • 69% think that the government should be responsible for the maintenance of government-provided infrastructure. • 50% say the government should be responsible for maintaining infrastructure provided by private companies • 3% of respondents say private companies working in the community should be responsible for the provision of infrastructure • 4% of people think these companies should be responsible for the maintenance of government-provided infrastructure • 16% say the companies in the community should be responsible for the maintenance of privately-provided infrastructure
