1st mobility - Croatia From 29th September to 6th October 2013 we were in the warm and hospitable town of Sibenik which is located in Croatia on the Adriatic coast.
Comenius Project called 'C Code to Common Future' First we had to go to Split. We managed to see its oldest part, which is situated in the former palace of Emperor Diocletian.
And then we waited impatiently for the bus that would finally take us to our destination.
Day 1 On Monday 30th September we met all the project partners - Croats, Turks, Hungarians and Italians - in the Ekonomska School and had international workshops and classes on Human Rights, Mathematics and architecture, Ethics and environment, Therapeutical herbs and oils, Code letter and great inventors.
In the afternoon we played a city game in the medieval streets of Sibenik.
On our way there was the town's most famous landmark - the cathedral of St. Jacob, which has been put on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Looking at the heads surrounding it, you can see what Sibenik's townsfolk in the 16th c. looked like.
We could see Venetian traces everywhere – wells, lions and fortresses
Next day our itinerary looked like this: 1/10/2013 Tuesday 8:00 - Meeting point Central Bus station; departure for a day trip to the National Park Kornati 9:00 - Arrival in Murter and a boat trip to the Islands of Kornati 14:00 - Lunch 16:00 - Departure for Murter and Šibenik
We disembarked our boat to eat a delicious lunch and have a swim on one of the picturesque tiny islands.
After a short summer break on land in the middle of autumn we were ready for a cruise back to Sibenik.
Next day our hosts took us to the beautiful National Park of the river Krka with its stunning waterfalls. 2/10/2013 Wednesday 08:45 - Meeting point Central Bus station; departure for a day trip to the National Park Krka 9:30 - Arrival in Skradin and a quick tour round the town 10:00 - Workshop on water filters and water analysis (the Hungarian team brings their analysis kit) in the Parks`s premises; Webconference between the school and the partners (giving assignments) 12:00 - Arrival in Park: walking tour and presentation of the oldest dam Lunch - sandwiches and refreshments (host families provide for their guests) 15:00 - Workshop on therapeutic effect of pets on health Meeting authentic Croatian dogs Competition - Tying a cravat (tie) 17:00 - Departure for Šibenik
We could see there how water power - a source of renewable energy - was used commercially in the 19th c.
We also visited another island - Prvic, where we took a walk along the quiet streets of the sleepy off-season tourist resort.
Apart from the Sibenik cathedral we saw one more place that is on the UNESCO Heritage List - the Old Town of Trogir.
The spirits were high - during the day....and late into the night!
Bye, bye hospitable beautiful Croatia. For sure we will comeback!
